Spaceflight has (unnoticed) become an important component of our society. Without spaceflight there is no direct intercontinental television, no modern communication, no reliable weather information and no essential data to solve global problems like deforestation, damage to the ozone layer and climate change.
Spaceflight - or better, the infrastructure for spaceflight - is applied more and more to solve global problems, such as in the areas of the environment, climate change and logistics. The importance of spaceflight for the society is expected to increase even more in the future. Dutch Space contributes actively to this development.
Three quality management certifications, mentioned under 'About Dutch Space/Certifications', illustrate the commitment of Dutch Space to fulfil the need for specific products of the demanding space and defence market. These certifications also demonstrate the continuous effort of Dutch Space to comply with the expectations of these markets. In order to address the environmental aspects as well, Dutch Space has committed itself to set up an environmental management system, according to the requirements of ISO 14001. The commitment to this policy has been laid down in this environmental policy document.
